This Feline Herpesvirus Type-1 test requires samples of ocular, nasal, or anal secretions, saliva, or serum/plasma.Our Feline Herpesvirus Type-1 tests for cats are designed for at-home use and do not necessitate additional equipment.
These tests are grounded in the principles of lateral flow immunochromatography, aiming to qualitatively detect Feline Herpesvirus Type-1 antigen (FHV-1), the causative agent of feline viral rhinotracheitis, in samples from a cat's ocular, nasal, or anal swab, as well as in serum or plasma.
The Feline Herpesvirus test for cats is based on a sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test device features a testing window with both the T (test) and C (control) zones. When the cat's sample is applied to the device, the liquid laterally traverses the test strip, reacting with pre-coated monoclonal antibodies. If there is Feline Herpesvirus Type-1 antigen in the specimen, a visible T line will manifest. The presence of the C line after applying the sample always indicates a valid result. Consequently, the device accurately determines the presence or absence of Feline Herpesvirus Type-1 antigen in the sample.
Results are obtainable within 5-10 minutes.

I did the test when my cat's left eye had excessive tear drainage. The last time we had a vet visit, my vet had mentioned that there's a possibility that she could have the herpes virus because of her tear drainage in one eye. This test came back negative! I have one more test and I will do it again soon to confirm the negative result. If you have ever done a diagnostic covid test, this is a similar type of test process. I'm happy with the simplicity of it and so was my cat! 😻
